Spong stood at the cradle of the so called ‘euthanasia cases’. As early as in 1985 he tried the first euthanasia case successfully before the Supreme Court. Spong, and later his colleague Vis, have build a reputation defending doctors in cases of euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide.
